A central or defensive midfielder, James is on loan from League Two Tranmere Rovers, with whom he has been since he was 11. He signed his first pro contract last year after helping the Under-18s to top spot in the EFL Youth Alliance North West, and made his first debut as a second half substitute against Maidstone last season.
